Created: 2021

Location: Beyond Burgers

Address: 4717 Lakelse Avenue

The is mural is located in the Gobind Shopping complex. It’s located on the south facing wall of the mini mall on the Beyond Burgers location. Painted using vibrant reds and black, the mural is reflective of people coming together even while they were apart during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hazelton-based Gitxsan artist, Michelle Stoney spent much of the first months of the pandemic drawing colouring pages for kids and adults alike, each featuring her modern take on traditional form line and creating designs that reflect the area we live, magical creatures and imagery that resonated in a complex time. Using those colouring pages and designs as inspiration, Michelle incorporated them into her mural, creating a lasting legacy and celebration of people’s resilience.

It also contains her trademark hand design that the Every Child Matters movement – reminding people about the sad history of the Indian Residential School system in Canada and efforts moving forward to achieve reconciliation.
